I began working in the NHS back in 1997 as a Cardiac Clinical Scientist where I gained invaluable experience in both Cardiac and Respiratory Medicine and became very experienced in skills such as echocardiography and rhythm analysis. Whilst working, I completed my BSc in Physiological Measurements in London and attained a 1st class honours.
I entered Medicine in 2001 and have thoroughly enjoyed my journey and the privileges being a Doctor brings. After basic training I became a specialist registrar in Paediatrics (child health) after being accepted into the Oxford deanery training scheme. I gained lots of knowledge and whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my specialist training, I missed other areas within Medicine and so decided to retrain and become a General Practitioner, utilising all of my skills acquired over the last 20 years.
I completed my GP training in Calderdale and have remained here ever since. As a GP I currently work as a locum but have worked as both a salaried doctor and partner until 2015. As a GP partner, I was both the prescription lead and practice lead involved in working with the Clinical Commissioning Group.
In 2017, I was approached by Spire Healthcare to become their first GP at Spire Elland.
I currently work as both an NHS and Private GP, am fully registered with the General Medical Committee (GMC), undertake yearly appraisals and revalidation every 5 years under NHS England. I am insured with the Medical Defence Union (MDU) and operate under Spire Elland Healthcare privately.
I grew up in Southampton with my parents and two brothers. As a child I was in to numerous sports, including table-tennis, hockey and golf. As a table-tennis player I have won numerous competitions at town and county level, also playing for Hampshire as a junior and senior. I was team captain for our school and we came 3rd nationally.
Today, I continue to play golf (time permitting!) with my father, brothers and father-in-law. I also enjoy cycling on the many hills on offer in Halifax.
I am married to my wonderful wife and we have two children and another on the way. We are all very close and keep very busy. We also have a labrador and shih tzu who also keep us busy!
